Bette Anne Leopold

April 11, 1932- June 25, 2016

Peacefully on Saturday, June 25, 2016 with family at her bedside Bette Anne, our beloved sister, friend, aunt and great auntie began her final journey home.

Bette Anne was predeceased by her parents, her beloved brother Edward, sister Lynne McBryan and dear friend Ilse Triskle.  Left to grieve are her brother Daryl (Laura), her sister Bonnie Wasnock, sister-in-law Jackie, and many nieces and nephews. Bette Anne will be missed by her lifelong friend, Lisa von Radziminsky. She will also be missed by her longtime friend Ray Buchanan, the Triskle and Cederwall families and friends from the Canadian Air Force, Germany, and Pinecrest Home.

Bette Anne began her working career, serving as a radar technician with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Then she worked in secretarial positions in Winnipeg and at The Narrows Limited in Sioux Narrows. In the winters she travelled with Lisa to either Vancouver, Germany/Europe or Slant Lake. She moved to Ottawa in 1966 and retired in 1987 as an instructor with Statistics Canada. In her early retirement years she continued to travel with Lisa and became a special Auntie to Ashley, Gregory and Jeffrey Cederwall. Auntie Bette Anne instilled in them kindness and a love of learning. Our beloved Bette Anne will be dearly missed by all.

We would like to thank the staff, volunteers and friends at Pinecrest who in the past 5 years provided her care and also took the time to talk and laugh with her. It brought her much joy. We also appreciate the professional care and compassion provided by Dr. Spielman, Dr. Kowal, Nurses Stacey, Brenda and Allan during her brief stay at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, July 9 at 11am in the Lake of the Woods Cemetery. Online condolences may be emailed to
