Steffie Rusak
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Steffie Dolores Rusak (nee Zawadzki). Steffie passed away at home in the arms of her family and will be missed ever so much. Loving wife and mother, proud grandmother and great grandmother, avid fisher, talented seamstress, passionate card player, tireless volunteer and the moral compass for many a friend and family member alike. Steffie, was predeceased by Frank, her soulmate of 53 years, and survived by her son Jim (Cindy), and her daughters Theresa (Sam), Carol (Mel) and Jacquie (Jim). Her eight grandchildren include Stephanie, Katie, Ryan, Samantha, Matthew, Aaron, Joshua and Mary and (currently) five great grandchildren. Steffie was born and raised on farms in rural Manitoba and after a short career as a clerk with Canadian Pacific Railway in Winnipeg, she was wooed by the love of her life and moved to Kenora where, with Frank, she built a nurturing home for her family. She loved the lake dearly and could often be found on the water or ice catching a shore lunch or Friday's dinner. She was generous, patient, kind and understanding and we could not have asked for a more devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A mass celebrating her life will be held at Notre Dame du Portage Church at 11 am on Monday December 12th, 2022, officiated by Father Rudy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation or the Nature Conservancy of Canada in her name.
