Maxine Ruth McDaid (nee Christiansen)

With sadness we announce the passing of Maxine on August 10, 2022.

Maxine was born on April 9, 1923, along with her twin brother Max, to Anna and Sigurd Christiansen of Keewatin.

She attended Keewatin-Kenora Schools.  After graduation she left to work in government in Ottawa 1942.  After the war she moved to Toronto and worked in the Dept. of National Revenue and later returned to Kenora, retiring in 1982 from the Dept. of Indian Affairs.

She married David McDaid in Keewatin 1965.  They spent many years traveling and enjoying their cottage at Clearwater Bay with family and friends.  Much fun was had with their two dogs Mike and Spike, as well as their cat Jay of 22 yrs.  The beautiful surroundings of the lake provided Maxine with inspiration for many paintings.

Maxine was a member of the St. James Anglican Church and a member of the Chancel Guild for over thirty years.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband Dave, sisters Sylvia (Bill) and Anne (John), brothers Arthur (Anna), Stanley (Edith), and Max (Mae), and nieces Linda Christiansen and Norma Robinson.

She is survived by her niece Joanne Christiansen, nephews Gary Christiansen and Jon Gusko, and great nieces and nephews Craig Robinson, Cindy Burnell, Tanya and Malcolm Christiansen.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the local humane society.
