Lloyd Melvin Lemay
It is with great sadness, we mourn the loss of Lloyd Melvin Lemay, a beloved father, grandfather, partner and friend to all. Lloyd was born in Kenora on August 12, 1938, and passed on October 29, 2019. As a child, the family moved to Geraldton Ontario for work, and moved back to Kenora to see the green trees. Dad started his working career young at the age of 12, working at the Kenricia, where they took him under their wing, and treated him like their own. Dad worked numerous jobs throughout his life, doing odd jobs, then to the flour mill, Acme cleaners, and the stud mill until it burnt. He also worked alongside his father in the plumbing and heating business. He managed the North American Lumber before retiring. In between jobs, Dad was a self-employed contractor.
Dad thoroughly enjoyed spending time at the family farm in Alida Saskatchewan, where he helped with the harvest, and endless repairs around the farm. This is where dad got his green thumb, and loved to garden.
Dad married Jessie Hendrickson on July 26, 1958, and had 2 sons. They celebrated their 40th anniversary in 1998, before she passed in 1999.
Dad was predeceased by his father Melvin, mother Jennie, brother Art, sister Marilyn, his wife Jessie, as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
Lloyd is survived by his loving partner and best friend Janice Swartz, sons Lyle (Jen) Brent (Virginia), sister Joyce, grandchildren Kaitlyn (Brandon), Craig (Ashley), Brandon, Elaine, as well as Kimberley who was very dear to his heart. Also survived by his step grandchildren Chris & family, Dallas (Christina) and family, Karla (Shaun) and family, Dustin, Derek & family. Dad was loved by all, a friend to everyone. I would give anything to hear him say
“miserable as ever”, or “Tickety- Boo one more time.
