William Sawkins (Bill)

May 11, 2020

After a great life, Bill Sawkins passed away at the age of 86 on May 11, 2020.

Bill was born on June 1, 1933 to Albert and Laura Sawkins (Perrault).

After growing up on Second St S he got his first job, lasting 39 years, at the MANDO pulp and paper mill, as a paper inspector.

It wasn't long before he met the love of his life, for 60 years, Joanne Caron.

Bill will be remembered as both a gentle soul and a gifted man.

He made many friends through the years at the mill,

Gibi Lake, and living on Coney Island.

He loved retirement and spending endless hours

in his wood shop or in his beautiful gardens.

We will miss his stories about hunting, fishing and curling and how he made it to the 1958 Brier.

We will certainly miss him as a loving father and Papa.

Bill is survived by his sons Mike and Mark(Flo)

Granddaughters Jaclyn and Theresa.

Sister-in-law Mavis (Don) nieces Marcy (Jim) Ronda (Rick) Patty (Gord)

Sister-in-law Lorna, nieces Cathy, Charlotte (Bruce)

cousin Millie Anderson

Leaving before Bill were his wife Joanne 2019,

brother Ron 1974, brother-in-law Dick Caron  2019.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Bill's second family

at Benidickson. He was so appreciative of the care both he and Jo received there.

Final thanks to the staff on 2E for their care and support to all of us.

Cottage memorial to be held later this summer
