Siegfried (Siggy) Scheibler

With his four children at his side, Siegfried peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2019.

Siegfried was born February 11, 1934 in Zittau, East Germany to Oswald and Margarete Scheibler.  He was one of seven children.

Siggy was predeceased by his parents, loving wife Nancy, and three brothers John, Herman and Frederich.  Siggy is survived and sadly missed by his daughter Krissy (late Mark Alcock), son Mark (Debbie, grandchildren Megan and Dustin), son Richard (Tiffany), son Peter (Andrea, grandchildren Abbie and Cameron), sisters Maria and Ruth, brother Arnold, as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

After living through WWII, he began working at a young age but soon followed his brothers to Canada in 1959 where he started working in Garson, MB and proudly became a Canadian citizen.  He wasn’t there long before he moved to Kenora, ON where his passion for logging was abundant.  He worked very hard but loved his job and loved being outdoors.  Soon he met the love of his life Nancy.  They married in May of 1968 and began their beautiful life together.  Siggy loved his family time and enjoyed boating, waterskiing, motorcycles, camping, gardening, singing and of course…fixing things.

Siggy was a very spiritual man, and truly had a heart of gold.  He enjoyed helping everyone he met along the way.  He welcomed absolutely everyone he ever met and didn’t judge anyone.  What a world this would be if more people were like our dad.

The family would like to thank the staff at Birchwood Terrace for the love and care given to Siggy over the past 6 years.

A Service of Celebration and Remembrance will be held at Alcock Funeral Home in Keewatin on Saturday January 4, 2020 at 11am.

In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you consider performing a random act of kindness, because that’s what our dad enjoyed doing throughout his whole life.
