Victor Joseph Kress

With heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of Victor Kress, in his 91st year, on March 28, 2019. He was surrounded by his loving family as he rode off into the sunset. He was the beloved husband of Eileen (Weisgerber) of 66 years. He is remembered by his children Vicki Neufeld (James), Ken Kress (Kathie), and Lori Katz (Allan), and special nephew Brian Weisgerber. Also survived by his grandchildren, Becky, Cindy, Jody (Pete), Nathan (Jacki), Jake, Josh (Ashley), Leah (Chad), Benny, and Dylan.  He was the great-grandfather of Christina (Bradley), Marcus, Annah, Maria, Charlee, Faye, Daxtyn, Adalyn, and soon to arrive baby boy Cailan. He was predeceased by his daughter Christina and son Greg.

Vic was known by many names; Dad, Daddy, Pops, Grampa, Papa, and Papoo. He was born in Rosefield, Saskatchewan on August 7, 1928, and spent his early years working on the family farm. He arrived in Kenora in 1956 and was employed by Towland Construction. Known as “The Whip,” he led crews to build several highways throughout North Western Ontario. He loved spending time at his camp on Eagle River with family and friends, especially his good friend Andy Mackie. Vic enjoyed entertaining anyone he met with his colourful stories of days gone by.

The family would like to thank Dr. Workman, the Kidney Clinic, Alexis Peplinskie, and the Paramed team for all their kindness and support.

We will all miss him dearly, including family pets (his grand-dogs may possibly starve without him). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Kidney Foundation, Heart and Stroke, or It’s a Dog’s Life.

A Memorial Service will be held at Alcock Funeral Home in Keewatin on Wednesday April 3, 2019 at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Deacon Earl Johnson.
