Dale Toms                    May 21, 1936 – September 25, 2018

On Tuesday afternoon, as the sun shone briefly, a float plane flew into Safety Bay. God came to pick up Dale and take him home. Dale lived his life in his home town of Keewatin. Following his schooling, his career was with the Ontario Provincial Government under the Ministry of Transport as well as Community and Social Services. Dale and Sharon were married on September 17th, 1977. Flying was Dale’s favourite pastime. He obtained his Private and Glider Flyer licenses. He spent several years with the local Air Cadets. Several summers were spent at Air Cadet Camp at Rivers, Manitoba. Field trips were also taken with the Cadets to Pinawa and Cold Lake. Dale was a member of the Kenora Flying Club and latterly the Lake of the Woods Aeromodelers Club. He looked so forward to any opportunity to go flying either at the club field or at the indoor site. Reading, photography, traveling, boating and fishing were all his delights.

Predeceased were his parents Silas and Esther Toms, sister Judy and nephew Lance Ongman. Left to cherish Dale’s unconditional love is his wife Sharon. He often referred to us as the “husband and wife team” as most of the things in our marriage journey were done together. Dale handled the past few months of his illness with courage and dignity. He is now enjoying God’s presence in Heaven.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 11:30 at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery. A reception will be held at 12:00 at the Clarion Hotel. All are welcome. Donations to Dale’s memory may be made to the Lake of the Woods Aeromodelers Inc. or to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation.
