Joseph Clement Philippe (CLEM) Pigeon, 78, of Kenora, ON passed away unexpectedly at Lake of the Woods District Hospital on Wednesday, October 18, 2017.
Clem was born in St. Paul, AB and spent his early years working throughout Canada’s North for the Hudson Bay Company as a Bay Factor. In 1964, he married Roberta (nee FitzGerald) and 7 years later they moved to Kenora to raise their family. Ever the entrepreneur, Clem left his position as manager of the local Sears store and opened Tackle and Target Sporting Goods in Kenora in 1979, which he ran until his retirement in 1996. He was an avid fisherman and hunter himself - when he could get away from the store and his other enterprises.
Clem is survived by his devoted wife, Roberta; his children, Josie Kortchevich and Colleen Pigeon; his grandchildren Alexandra Kortchevich and Nicholas Kortchevich; and siblings Janine, Roland, Jules and Diane Pigeon. He was predeceased by his daughter, Laura Pigeon and sister, Monique Lozeau.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Notre Dame du Portage Church in Kenora at 11:00 am. A tea will follow starting at 12:30 pm at Grandview Villa, 5th floor, 7 Woods Drive, Kenora.
A great advocate and supporter of the community, donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Kenora & Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation (http://www.klwcf.ca/) or The Building Fund for Notre Dame du Portage Catholic Church, in Clem’s name.
