Larry Balfour

Larry passed away peacefully on October 15th at LWDH after a short battle with cancer.

Larry was born July 2nd, 1943 in Lindsay ON, second eldest to five brothers and a sister.

Larry will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Vivian Balfour. Also missing him will be his children; Shelley(Dave) Sabeski, Mark Balfour, Jacquie Balfour, Jack(Perri Anne) Nicholson, Jamie Nicholson & Kelly(Tyrone) Norman. In addition, his memory will live on through his grandchildren; Tyler, Amanda, Ashley, Crystal, Trevor, Chase, Kaytlin, Aimie, Devyn, Tyler and Taylor. Larry also leaves 7 great grandchildren.

By profession, Larry was a master electrician, however anyone who knew him knew he was a jack of all trades and would lend his services in anyway he could. Larry moved to Keewatin in 1974 were he spent his first few years as a volunteer firefighter, as well as the main sponsor for the Balfour Hawks (originally known as Kroppy Hawks). Additionally he was a sponsor for Keewatin girls ringette.

Larry was an advent hunter and would not let anything get in the way of his yearly moose hunting trips with the boys. On top of everything else he was the best comedian any of us knew, making it a life goal to have everyone in the room laughing (even up until his final days).

Our family would love to thank all staff at Keewatin Medical Clinic, Keewatin Pharmacy, Joyce McLeod, Kenora EMS, Paramed Homecare and all staff at LWDH.

A celebration of Larry's life and a chance to share stories will be held Friday October 20th at the Super 8 motel Kenora, at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family is kindly suggesting donations be made to Thunder Bay Tamarack House.
