Bonita Marie Cameron (nee Schroder)
January 16, 1959 – March 27, 2017
It is with much sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Bonita surrounded by her loving family, and special friends, Karen, Debra, Jane and Aggie, who helped and supported us through it all.
Bonita is predeceased by her true love Larry and her mom and dad, Douglas and Claudette Schroder.
She will be forever remembered by her sisters Tannis Cates (Bill), Marcy Arsenault (Louis) and Jaclyn McGowan (George), her sister-in-law Jeannie Leroux (Frank), many nieces and nephews, who she adored and was so proud of, and her extended Cameron family.
Bonita grew up in Keewatin and truly enjoyed spending time with her family, going to their camp on Belle Lake, fishing, boating and hunting. She attended Keewatin Public School where she made lifelong friends and graduated from Beaver Brae Secondary School with the same friends in 1977. Shortly after high school Bonita made the move to Vancouver and spent 17 years there, at which time she had the opportunity to travel to Thailand, and it definitely became her “Happy Place”.
Bonita moved back to Kenora in the mid 1990’s, to reconnect with family and friends. It was then that Bonita and Larry started their life together and made a beautiful home on Storm Bay, they had the same interests and shared so much together. Their home was always open to everyone who stopped by for a visit, summer or winter. Bonita loved her home, gardening and keeping everything just so.
Bonita was one of the most honest people you could ever meet, she always said exactly what was on her mind and you always knew where you stood with her because she would tell you. She always called “a spade a spade” and kept it real. And we loved her for that.
We would like to thank Dr. Jesse Zroback, Dr. J. Kroeker and the 3rd Floor Hospital Staff for their care during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
A Celebration of Bonita’s Life will be held Saturday April 1st, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Alcock Funeral Home, Keewatin Ontario
Alcock Funeral Home & Cremation Services (Highway 17 West Keewatin) in care of arrangements, 547-6000.
