Judith Anne Gosnell (nee Van Tassel)

It is with great sadness that we announce our wife and mother went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2021 with her husband Jim and family by her side. Mom was born in Rainy River on June 9, 1940. On May 17, 1956, she married the love of her life and neighbour James Gosnell. Shortly after they were married, Mom and Dad moved to Kenora. Mom had a few different jobs before settling down at Birchwood Terrace and became an RPN. In 1994, mom retired and enjoyed spending time at their camp in Emo with family and friends.
Judy leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Jim and their children Kenny, Jerry (Linda), Wendy (Robert), Sandra (Ron) and her grandchildren; Jayme, Darcy, Chantal (Ryan) and James; Tim (Stefanie), Danielle (Mark), and Phillip (Michelle); Donovan and Jason; Kristi (Charlie) and Mitchell. She will be fondly remembered by many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is survived by her sister-in-law Phyllis and her step-brother Everett Cliver.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, David and Violet Van Tassel (Magnus Cliver), her in laws, Arthur and Mable Gosnell, her bother, David (Patsy), her sisters, Eunice (George), Margaret (Colin) and Edna. Her brothers-in-law Scott (Olga) and Roy, sister-in-law Audrey.
Mom loved fishing and enjoyed having fish frys with family and friends. She was well known for her crafting and won many awards at the Agricultural Fair. Mom loved backing, we would often line up for her amazing butter tarts and lemon meringue pie. She was an avid knitter and crocheter, often making sweaters and blankets for the hospital. Mom was very involved with the Salvation Army Church.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Pinecrest Auxiliary. As per mom’s wishes, there will no be a service.
