STEFAN BRUCE STEFANSSON

09Nov1965-15Oct2019

Family and friends are left with a deep void in the passing of Bruce on October 15, 2019. With his wife at his side he bounced from loving words to sarcasm and wit until his very last moment.

Bruce was a proud Icelandic with a huge heart that started from the moment he entered this world and stayed true to himself always. He was a giver. He gave of himself to anyone who crossed his path and left an impression everywhere. His crazy, zany spirit and sarcastic sense of humour made him the light in every room he entered.

Early days were spent surrounded by siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles and he fondly shared tales of summers in Gimli and large family dinners on Sundays. Specifically those summers where the cousins were stacked like cord wood to fit in the tiny cabin.

Bruce craved adventure and travelled as often as possible to anywhere the mood struck him. A backpack and plane ticket was all he needed for the chance to experience something new.

Along came Jenny and soon he was married and blessed with two beautiful daughters, Claire and Sadie. He settled into family life as if it was his true purpose on earth. He adored his girls and devoted his time, attention and infinite love into nurturing them to become the incredible young women of today. When they parted ways Bruce and Jenny remained friends and were committed to raising their girls together.  Bruce found love again when he met Shelyna and before long his family became six. His heart was so big that accepting her children, Rayne and Lachlan, into his arms was just as easy as loving his own girls. Bruce cherished his wife and together the adventures continued. The summers at the cabin by the lake was his happy place and he would chant “Camp Camp Camp” every time they drove down the road and he always found peace in the nature and beauty there.

At every opportunity he continued to seek out time with his large family of parents, siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles. Together they gave new meaning to mockery and the entertainment was endless.  Bruce loved deeply and completely and the sudden loss of his mother broke his heart. We take comfort knowing that he is by her side giving her every ounce of his love and sarcasm.

Please join us in celebrating Bruce’s life at our party that will be held at the Lake of the Woods Brewing Company on October 25th at 7pm in Kenora Ontario.

The family is requesting donations in Bruce’s memory. They can be made to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation – Education.
