Bernice MacGregor

(Born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba)

March 4, 1931 – November 1, 2018

After a battle with dementia, our wonderful Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep with Marnie by her side.  Mom married Dad (Fred MacGregor) in Kenora on September 28, 1950, after a two week courtship!  It really was love at first sight and remained that way for 66 years.

Besides working side by side with Dad on the farm on the Anderson Road, Mom worked at the Kenora District Jail for 30+ years.

In 1989 Mom & Dad moved to Shellbrook, Saskatchewan where they lived for 10 years.  After a brief return to Kenora, they moved to an acreage in Vanderhoof, BC.  In 2013 another move took them to a retirement home in Vernon, BC – where Dad passed away on June 10, 2016.  Through every move, they made many lifelong friends.

Mom loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; camping and fishing with Dad, horseback riding, knitting, crocheting, puzzles and reading.

Mom leaves behind her three children, Marnie (Leo) Kornas; Clint (Gwen) MacGregor; and Vivian (Frank) Aubert.  Grandchildren Ivory-Lyn (Andrew); Karley (Zach); Jiline (Meagan); Christopher; and Shay (Justin), and three great grandsons Devon, Kyler and Zayden.  Two sisters, Dorothy Lyall and Irene Brunskill and one brother, Ross (Pat).  Three sister-in-laws, Joan Laing, Colleen Garrow, and Lois (Neil) Aube and numerous nieces & nephews.  Also surviving are Paul, Susan and David Kornas and their families.  Mom was pre-deceased by her sister Margaret Parkes.

At this time we would like to take the opportunity to offer a special thanks to the Staff at Birchwood Terrace for their excellent care of our beloved Mom.
