Gwen Stajkowski
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Gwendoline (Gwen) Stajkowski. Mom was born in Dudley England on November 23, 1933 to John and Mable Round. Mom was born into a family of ten children being the third eldest. At the age of 21, Mom courageously immigrated to Canada by herself.
Mom was so proud of her Canadian citizenship and embraced her new life. In White River Ontario, she met the love of her life, Heiny, and were married shortly afterwards. Together they moved across
northwestern Ontario as Dad worked for the MTO building the Trans Canada highway, during this period they raised four children and finally settled in Kenora.
Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband in 2001, her parents in England, her mother and father in law in Thunder Bay and her Granddaughter Taylor. Also predeceased by several siblings and in laws in England, Australia and Canada.
Mom leaves behind her four children, Brent (Kathy), Drew (Cheryl), Mark (Cory), Bronwen (Peter). She leaves to treasure her memory 11 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren.
Mom also leaves behind her 4 remaining siblings and their families in England, Australia, her sister and family in Thunder Bay and in laws in Thunder Bay including numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the staff and care givers at Pinecrest Home for their compassion and care shown to our mother during her stay there.
