Jeanette Bongfeldt

With great sadness our beautiful mother, Jeanette Bongfeldt (nee Sherman) passed away with family by her side early Saturday morning on September 3rd. Jeanette was very active in the Roman Catholic Church and her faith guided her through life. The angels came to take her away, she is with her saviour, what a glorious day!

Jeanette was a lifelong learner, starting her own business in her 30’s; "Jet Upholstery”, having taught herself everything she needed to know to run her company including the trade and the necessary accounting skills. Countless works of art she created ranging from boat tops to vintage furniture restorations are scattered throughout the Lake of the Woods and beyond.

Jeanette will be remembered by everyone she met for her warm and welcoming companionship whether it be at her kitchen table, her workshop or anywhere else.  Although she faced challenges in her life, she never complained, always preferring to focus on the good.

Jeanette always kept a nice home and fiercely loved and protected her family. She lived life to its fullest, enjoying many leisure activities including; curling, fishing, knitting and so many others.

Jeanette is survived by her children; Edwin (Teresa), Robert (Lori), David (Pauline), Leanne (Maurice) and Ella (Chuck) and she instilled in her kids; strong morals, a strong sense of loyalty and the value of hard work. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her Brother Jack Chisholm (Patty) and her sister MaryJane McNichol (Wayne). Jeanette's love lives on through her family. She was predeceased by her parents, Henrietta Chisholm and Emil Scheuermann, her loving husband of 58 years, Edward Bongfeldt, her siblings Robert Sherman and Annaice Williams, her sister-in-law, Marion Hoff, her daughter-in-law, Dianne Singbeil-Bongfeldt and her granddaughter, Christine Bongfeldt.

The family would like to thank the many staff at the Pinecrest Long Term Care Facility for their care and compassion and for treating Mom with such dignity in her final days. In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to a charity of their choice. A funeral mass will be held at St. Louis Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, September 17 at 11:00am with a luncheon to follow.
