Ned Olson

 

Ned Olson, age 83 years of Kenora, ON formerly of Red Rock, ON passed away peacefully at Pinecrest Home with his family by his side on Wednesday, November 2nd 2022.  Ned was born to Esther and Bert Olson on July 25th, 1939 in Kenora, ON.  Ned spent his youth playing hockey in Lakeside and caddying at the Kenora Golf Course which ignited his passion for the game of Golf.  He also spent many of his teenage years at Hank and Dabs Camp Logging and Guiding with his family.

     Ned moved to Montreal in his early 20’s and met the love of his life Betty Ann (DeBlois).  In a short few years they moved to Red Rock, ON to marry and start a family.  Ned started his career as a Paper Maker at Domtar Packaging before retiring in 1997 after 35 years.  Ned was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 226 in Red Rock.

     Ned looked forward to the May Long Weekend each year where he went to Dryberry Lake to fish Lake Trout with his family and friends.  Every Summer for many years Ned took his family to Crow Lake in Nestor Falls, ON where they created so many special memories for their children, friends and their families.

     Ned is predeceased by his loving wife Betty Ann, his parents Esther and Bert, in law’s Oscar and Bernice Deblois.  Brothers Ed, Fred (Dab), Doug and Dennis.  He is survived by his only Sister Noreen Kelly of Toronto, ON, children Brad (Anna) Olson, Kathleen (Doug) Novak and Greg (Chantal) Olson.  Grandchildren, Justin (Katrina), Sheldon (Jamie), Brandon, Ethan, Calley (Hunter) and Lukas along with 2 Great Grandchildren, Sadie and Layla.  Ned also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and many special friends.

     Cremation has taken place and a family celebration will take place at a later date.  Donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 226 in Red Rock or any other branch of your choice.
