Luis Manuel Moniz Cordeiro passed away on October 13, 2022, at the age of 70 years.

He is survived by his beloved wife Donna who he has been married to for 49 years as well as the “sunshine of his life” his only child Jodi Quinlan, his son-in-law Matt Quinlan and his three precious grandchildren Morghyn, Molli and Cord Quinlan.

Luis was predeceased by his parents Anibal and Alda Cordeiro and his in-laws John and Josephine Bencharski.

He is survived by his siblings George, Andy, Herbert, Zeke, Liz and Gary and his in-laws Russell, Denise, Rhonda and Rod along with their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews.

Luis was born July 21, 1952, in the Azores of Portugal. He immigrated to Canada as a young child and eventually settled back down in Minaki and married Donna in 1973.

Over the years he worked at CN, Birch Island, The Department of Highways, drove a school bus and fell in love with construction and created Lou Cordeiro Construction that he operated for close to 45 years.  In the 90’s he opened Jo’s Bar and Grill and wore many hats – he was a waiter, bartender, cook and bouncer over the ten years it was opened.

He was well known in the community for his strong and enduring work ethic and would volunteer his time to help with community revitalization projects.

Luis was quick witted and at times could be very stubborn, above all he was fiercely loyal to those who knew him and generous to all.

Cremation has taken place and a private family gather will take place in the Summer.
